Shack Shake is coming closer to the Harrisburg area.

The burger-and-shake franchise is opening an outpost at The Crossings at Conestoga Creek shopping center in Manheim Township, Lancaster County, according to LNPLancaster Online.

The news site reported Shake Shack will open in late 2022, according to High Real Estate Group, developer of the shopping center where Wegmans operates.

Lancaster Online said Shake Shack will encompass a 3,500-square foot spot in a building that will be constructed south of Starbucks in the center. The restaurant will feature a drive-thru and 700-square-feet of exterior space.

Shake Shack is one of the most popular restaurant chains in the nation. According to the food website Mashed, “What started as a single food stand (that didn’t even sell hamburgers) has grown into a fast food empire.”

The franchise dates back to 2001 when celebrity chef Danny Meyer opened a small hot dog cart at Madison Square Park in New York City. From there, the Shake Shack brand grew into a casual restaurant chain.

The restaurants serve gourmet hamburgers, hot dogs, crinkle-cut french fries and milkshakes. It now operates more than 240 locations throughout the United States with dozens of international locations.

The closest ones operating in Philadelphia and at the Lehigh Valley Mall in Allentown.
