Assassin’s Creed Canceled ‘Titans’ Game Details Reportedly Surfaced
According to a recent leak on 4chan, a canceled Assassin’s Creed game may have put players in the shoes of a monster-hunting assassin.
Details have reportedly surfaced regarding a cancellation Assassin’s Creed spin-off, apparently dubbed Project Titans during development.
Details about Project Titans were first shared anonymously on 4chan before being posted on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, a subreddit focused on unofficial video game news by user u/ResponsibilityTrue74. The original 4chan post was written by someone claiming to have worked on the game, but it has since been archived. A screenshot of the 4chan post was shared in the comments of the Reddit post.
According to the anonymous 4chan user claiming to have been a developer on Project Titansthe game would have been inspired by monster hunter, with players taking on the role of a beast-stalking assassin to take down different creatures throughout the story. unlike most Assassin’s Creed games, the protagonist wouldn’t use the Animus to enter a past event, but rather use it to inhabit a whole new artificial experience.
Project Titans deviated from tradition Assassin’s Creed games in several ways. Instead of taking on the role of a specific assassin, players would apparently have the option of creating their own character. The monster-hunting mechanics described in the 4chan post look very different from the usual main series melee and stealth combat. Project Titans would tie into the main series with a few pieces of iconic technology like the Animus and the appearances of a few recognizable characters like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey protagonists Alexios and Kassandra.
Whereas Project Titans was abandoned in development, the Assassin’s Creed the series certainly doesn’t hurt for new content. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the most recent mainline title, has continued to receive post-launch support for the past two years. A live service Assassin’s Creed game titled Assassin’s Creed Infinityis currently in development and would serve as a platform for new Assassin’s Creed stories to come. Other Assassin’s Creed titles, like a virtual reality spin-off and a smaller game focused on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla‘s Basim, have been rumored and leaked but not officially announced.
It is impossible to determine if anything said in the now archived 4chan post is even remotely accurate. Since Project Titans was reportedly canceled before it was even officially announced, and since the post was uploaded anonymously, nothing stated can be verified. However, if the message is at all accurate, it looks like Assassin’s Creed fans missed a monster hunterstyle adventure set in the series’ expansive universe.
