God of War director has hilarious response to Xbox scam
The director of the God of War series has responded to an awkward indie Xbox games rip-off with a short and direct comedic tweet.
God of the war Director Cory Barlog responded to a hilariously awkward gaming scam with a short but expressive tweet.
Barlog responded to a tweet on August 3 featuring the game, verbosely titled Gods of War Zeus of the Childwith a laughing heart emoji, accompanied by a GIF of Vito Corleone from The Godfather saying, “Look how they slaughtered my boy.” This answer is presumably in response to the main focus of the game, which is a shoddy model of the protagonist Kratos from the God of the war series that appears to be from the PlayStation 2 era. Many fans of the series responded to Barlog’s tweet by laughing alongside him. However, some were also quick to ponder the legality of using the Kratos model, as it is most likely unlicensed and used in an Xbox game while Kratos is a well-known PlayStation mascot.
Although it may boast an intense and colorful name, Gods of War Zeus the Child appears be anything but. There is no story or lore in the game, nor space for users to adjust settings to their liking. Players who purchase the game will be sent straight to an arena where they must survive against endless waves of monsters. However, there is a severe lack of background music and sound effects, which can amp up comic horror emotions when realizing Kratos has no reverse animation. This problem makes him slip as a character from The Exorcist.
The game was created in the Unity game engine by indie studio Dolaka LTD, a single-developer studio whose other title is a blatant knock-off of the popular obstacle course game fall guys appointed Dinosaur Falling Survival. Whereas Gods of War Zeus of the Child may be on the xbox store, he didn’t see any certification or actual testing from microsoft. This lack of filtering is due to the game being part of the Xbox Creators Collection, which allows small developers to quickly get their projects onto the platform. Gamers present in the Xbox 360 era may find it similar to the Xbox Indie Games program, which served as the platform for many unfinished and heinous titles. Minecraft clones for a few years.
God of the war is a series of fantasy action-adventure games developed by Santa Monica Studio. Borrowing heavily from Greek and then Norse mythology, the games follow Kratos, a fierce warrior who seeks revenge for the death of his family, then later seeks redemption. The series is extremely popular, with 2018 God of the war even becoming the best-selling PlayStation 4 game of all time, with nearly 20 million units sold. The titles’ popularity and obsessed fanbase have allowed the series to expand into other media, including books, documentaries, comics, and even an upcoming God of the war TV show.
Players wanting to get their hands on Gods of War Zeus of the Child can buy it for $4.09 from the Xbox store.
